Alethea Rising (Tabitha Alethea) is a South African visual artist, music producer, songwriter and singer. She grew up listening to a wide range of music, from country music and rock, to blues and hip-hop, which has greatly influenced her style today. 

She started writing poetry at the age of 14, as a coping mechanism for ongoing trauma, anger and the tragic loss of her father at the age of 13. Her love for music production truly flourished after the passing of her beloved mother in 2021, who she was very close to, once again as a way to cope with grief and healing her broken heart.

Today, she is a self-taught, multi-genre producer who thinks deeply and writes passionately about love, life, death and everything in between – seeking the truth hidden beneath all the layers of consciousness and reality, and finding ways to share that with anyone willing to listen.

In Greek, the word “Alethea” means truth, derived from Aletheia – the Greek goddess of truth. Truth is a uniting force that brings together hearts and minds. It is also a purifying force, which strips away everything that does not serve a greater purpose.
